On 15 October 2026 Wix connected Symphony by Wix, its multi-agent system for small businesses, to Link, the digital wallet built by Stripe, so that Symphony’s agents can pay for things on the owner’s behalf [1] [2]. The owner approves every purchase by WhatsApp or SMS, from any device, inside a 10-minute window [1] [2].
Wix’s examples are the dull jobs that eat a small owner’s week: reordering stock, paying a supplier invoice, covering an entry fee before a deadline, sending a gift card after a bad review [1] [2]. One of them is a candle shop whose best-selling scent drops below five units, at which point Symphony reorders from the usual supplier [1] [2].
The controls sit in the payment credential rather than in the agent. Each approved spend runs on a secure token or a one-time virtual card, the card is capped at the approved amount, and the agents never see the owner’s card details [1] [2]. With the cap on the card rather than in the agent’s instructions, an overspend fails at the card, whatever the agent decides to do. The rollout covers Symphony users with a US-based Link account, paying in US dollars [1] [2]. The announcement does not say what happens when the owner misses the window, or who carries a purchase the owner approved in a hurry and later disputes.
Chainalysis counts 138 million agent payments on x402
Chainalysis figures reported on 14 October show that cumulative payments through x402, the protocol that lets a website or API ask for a stablecoin payment before it serves a request, passed 138 million on Base by the third quarter of 2026 [3] [4]. More than 87 per cent of those payments were under 10 cents [3] [4].
The median time from a wallet’s first deposit to its first payment fell from 73 days in late 2025 to 18 minutes by the third quarter of 2026, and about two-thirds of new wallets now spend within an hour of being funded [3] [4]. On the desk’s reading, 18 minutes looks like a developer funding a wallet and setting an agent to work at once, with no person approving each payment. The desk’s 31 July brief carried the earlier Chainalysis count, which was then well over 100 million.
Stripe says its agent volume went vertical in September
On his Cheeky Pint podcast this week, Stripe’s president, John Collison, told Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Alexandr Wang that agentic commerce at Stripe had gone “vertical” from September [5] [6]. Neither account of the episode gives a figure [5] [6]. Muse, the Meta agent the three were discussing, is the one Amazon began blocking from its store in September [5] [7].
Back at the candle shop, the owner’s share of the controls on an agent with a card comes down to one WhatsApp message and a 10-minute clock.
